I honestly can't read this anymore. It's just way too gruesome and we STILL don't why The Empire is going around killing entire towns so brutally other than for just one girl, and even if she is a traitor, there is not a single reason why someone would do this that would justify this. This comic honestly just seems like gore and sex for the sake of it, at this point. The writing was decent at first, but now it is coming off as pure shit.

If I had to make a guess, I would say that she is someone who has a strong claim to the empire's throne. The pope kept stressing how they had to get rid of her, not capture, before the coronation of someone who, I assume, they support. They are looking to kill her so as to remove someone who could probably prevent the coronation of their candidate. So yeah, they are desperate enough to get their puppet leader or whoever to sit on the throne that they are willing to kill as many citizens as possible so long as it doesn't reach the ears of the main country; since all of this seems to be happening in what they consider to be "the boonies". They have purposefully not left any witnesses so far that could tell of their misdeeds and I doubt there is any kind of technology or magic that could preserve the state of things in their wake as evidence(aka photo evidence).

So yeah, it's super brutal. But, considering that they seem to think their control of the entire empire is on the line and that they can get away with it due to poor communication lines. Also, the captain guy in the white armor obviously has a grudge now that his entire family is dead since he failed the first time; so he's probably going out of his way to cause suffering now.
