Yoshi never got captured by Bowser as much as Peach has, so Yoshi would be a more believable mother. Yoshi gives birth to eggs already.
Actually Id be more eager to save Yoshi then I would Peach, but thats just me. Yoshi at least can be ridden and has abilities, Peach can float for a few seconds. She's just the royalty face of the Mushroom Kingdom.
