Its not just that. Slavery also depends on what kind of slavery it is.

At its most "tame", there is debtor slavery which is exactly what it sounds like. Depending on the era and institutions at the time it can be legal or illegal (see: debtor prisons and the fact that they don't exist anymore) and common (see: indentured servants trying to immigrant to the New World/pre-colonial USA).

At its most "extreme", there is 'total slavery' (made up term) which is the big bad boogieman everyone always references and knows about. 100% ownership including over children, can do anything and everything to the slave, everyone else be damned. If you want to set your slave free, thats your right. If you want to make your slaves feed each other to wild animals for lulz, thats your right as well.

Edit : And then theres more "middle" slavery, such as war slaves. VERY rare because it exemplifies the sheer IDIOCY of slavery. The name is makes it straight forward, but what some people don't know is that it (used to) also apply to prisoners of war. And that meant trained soldiers. Do you REALLY want to buy a slave whose previous job was literally to kill people?

This is a rather odd story/doujin and to be honest I really don't like it. It's interesting enough that I want to find out what happens next but the way it plays out is so silly that I wanna bang my head on a wall over and over again.

My first problem with this is that i can't tell if it's a hentai doujin or a doujin with hentai content. The female characters are quite literally stupid and have no pride or even see themselves as people. That's fine if this is fap material cause that's what they're there for, but the storytelling in this is actually pretty decent so now I WANT the female characters to not be just fap material or trophy wives and since they act so silly it hurts to read. The MC also seemed like a decent guy in the beginning but the second chance he got to hit kamina he jumped at the opportunity even though she herself had no real chance to refuse, it kinda ruined the 'kindness' he showed her before and makes him look like an ass. The 2nd girl idek know where to start the whole 'you saved me now I'm yours' was far too convenient.

My criticisms aside that other girl who could put up a barrier might now have a phobia or hatred of men so hopefully she won't get seduced as easily as the other girls.

Honestly if the author just abandons any character development and just draws fap material I'll support that but when you develop female characters only to have them devolve into a harem for the MC it just seems like a waste.

First, Kamiya made the choice all on her own to sleep with him, and he never forced her once. Yes, when she started to come onto him he could have said "No thanks " but how many guys in the prime of their youth would be able to say no? He has honestly acted with more class than most guys would. Sure, he could have asked if she was sure about what she was doing, but that question would have been redundant anyway based on how she was acting.

Second, yeah, the blonde chick is more than a little convient in her appearance and wanting to become his slave because of it, but I just think she is very thankful and feels as if she is indebted to him, as he didn't really have to bed her as a monster after her Father tried to force him to do so. I would, but I know most wouldn't.

Their personalies may not be the most fleshed out either, but it is clear that Kamiya is more serious while the blonde is earnest and kind, and true to her word.

But this is just my opinion, and as you cam clearly see below, not everyone agrees with it. But that's fine. It'd be lame if we all thought the same anyway.

So, in this kind of story, the protagonist does the selfless thing that is likely to lead to a bad outcome for him, but everything works out in the end.

The problem is the negation of cause and effect. That is to say, every time you expect the MC to suffer from his decisions, it turns out that they were the right decisions all along. Example: instead of catching a deadly disease from fucking that diseased woman, instead the sex magically cures her. From a purely objective standpoint, he was not saving a life, but rather, just making sure that the terminally ill woman was going to get a proper burial.

In other words, to ensure that some random stranger got a proper burial, he risked his own life. If he actually died from that, then not only his family but also his companions would have been negatively affected by his death. All for what? As far as he knew, the diseased woman was going to die anyway, so he having sex with her didn't change anything significant.

At the very beginning, him "freeing" the slave girl was also never going to lead to good outcomes for her either. If he was really selfless he could have foreseen that the woman would probably have been recaptured and resold as a slave, so the kind thing to do would have been to agree to take her under his protection to begin with.

But anyway. Aharoo is not a bad character. He makes bad decisions at times but these bad decisions are done out of kindness. The plot contrivances hurt the story, but there is nothing wrong with the characterization.
