So if the anklets are loot you get after killing the dragon, and the anklets presumably always change you into a female dragon, then doesn't that meant that there's basically a never ending cycle of people killing the female dragon, becoming the new female dragon, and then voluntarily letting themselves die from the next adventurer in order to create a new female dragon in their place?

@The Goat is Watching @Delta Maxine @all41 If you notice though, the first picture has 2 distinct things in it. There is a dead dragon, and a man proclaiming that he got the anklets as loot after killing the dragon. From this we can make the obvious assumption that the man killed the dragon, and in doing so let him gain access to the loot. Therefore, to gain access to the anklets, even in just one instance, at least one of the dragons had to die. Seeing as the male of the pair was still alive we can also assume that it was the female dragon who was killed.

From the fact that the person who gained the anklets was eventually mated with another dragon who clearly knew what was happening to the man, the male dragon must have known about the existence of these anklets before hand. Even if we assume that it wasn't the dead dragon's mate, we still have a case where the male dragon knew about the dragon artifact, and that it is likely only gained from a dragon's treasure hoard. Therefore the dragon knew that the person they're talking to likely murdered another of its kind, looted the dragon's stuff, and yet was totally okay with it. So either dragons are complete assholes and are totally okay with other dragons dying and looting their stuff, which raises some pretty troubling implications and are a completely different can of worms, or this isn't the first time this has happened and that there's a positive that comes out of the situation. In this case, the previous female dragon's death isn't that bad since a new female will still appear due to the effects of the anklets.

Now it's never stated that the new dragon is going to die, but if we look at the last bit of conversation, we know that SOMEONE is going to die. Either the adventurer, or one of the dragons. The female dragon says 'let's welcome him with a gift' but with the fact that it's highly doubtful they're simply going to 'gift' their treasure to the first guy they meet, who by the male-dragon's speech is someone who's goal is to kill them and so won't just accept a gift from them, along with the male dragon's constant chatter about 'being strong', means that the person will likely have to prove his strength. This can be assumed that either it will be the same 'strength' as the female dragon has to show (which since the new adventurer is still a normal human means this is doubtful), or prove his strength in another way. Presumably by killing one of them. Therefore, the man, after proving his strength by killing one of them, will be 'gifted' the anklets as a prize.

Now the anklets are likely sitting in the new dragon's treasure hoard, but since the previous and new adventurer clearly came with the intention of killing the dragon and looting their stuff, it can be presumed that even if the hoard is freely accessible, the dragon will still be targeted by the adventurer and the same situation as above will occur. And if we assume the above will happen any number of times, eventually an adventurer will succeed in killing a dragon. After doing so, they will gain the anklets and the comic will play out once again.

Now let's assume that it's the MALE dragon who is killed instead of the female. That's still fine, because one of two possibilities still exist. Either he has his own treasure hoard that has its own anklets that cause the same effect but to create a male dragon, or the anklets simply track which dragon is dead and create a new one of the same gender. And if this is the case, then my point still stands. There is a constant cycle of people killing a dragon, becoming the new dragon, and then letting themselves die in order to continue the cycle. Sometimes the male and sometimes the female will die, but the cycle will continue without end.

It's pretty much like how Dragon's Dogma works.

@scranity you really read into that man, the first dragon just happened to have a pair of enchanted dragon anklets in a pile of loot, and he put them on. It's not even shown whether he does it alone or as a group (because I didn't want to draw a crowd of people.)

The second dragon is indifferent to the other dragon and its pile of loot because it's unrelated, and their intention is to either give, let him find, or force on the old anklets to the new adventurer. Which could either be a dragon slayer, some hero on a quest for power or advice, or a thief.

It's left pretty open so if you want to assume all that, I guess, but that's a bit far from how I interpreted it :V

@scranity 1: There's no indication that the dragon that dropped them was wearing them at any point, or that they were with another dragon. There's not enough info to go on to make that conclusion without making baseless assumptions.

2: Again, we don't have enough info to know WHAT, if anything, the other dragon knew about the anklets and where they came from.

3: We don't know that she's unwilling to let the newbie have the anklets freely. We have nothing to go on for that either way. You're going entirely on assumptions.

4: We don't know that, either, because we have no idea what the newcomer is like.

5: Nothing you're suggesting here is backed up by what we're shown. This is basically a fanfiction.

Your entire theory here is assumptions based on more assumptions.
