Then why does it look so much worse than the scan from 2007?
It's blurry, noisy, has massive leveling issues, and cuts off large parts of the pages. And the scanner was too cheap to break the binding to get a proper scan, too.
Literally the only thing "better" about this one is the resolution is higher.

Resolution =/= quality.
You'd think that would be common knowledge by now.

tl;dr No, the older scan is objectively superior, even if only for the reason that this one cuts off parts of the pages while that one doesn't. That is an automatic terrible scan criteria.
