I recommend you resize the mono pages slighly smaller until they don't look blurred then adjusting the levels and saving (if you want you can use lower bit rate), then saving in PNG. Then the same for covers, but save in JPG. PNG not suitable for "photo" quality cover and color page but only for lineart. Since the scan quality is high you can get a very beautiful final copy about 30-50MB in size.
