Different tastes. I usually find it boring when the character is reduced to being the object of the controller, as the existential crisis of the controlled is what I focus on most.

We read a good amount of doujins so the varied endings is a good thing. We personally like a lighter ending for shorter works and darker/crazy endings for longer works.
