Red's rant: Macross Delta doesn't get enough dojins, which is strange, considering how many nicely lovable/fuckable (cross wrong one out) characters it has. Here's EHCOVE's usual contribution to remedying this.

Also, I'd chose Makina over Freya any day. I mean, c'mon.

Thanks but did you really need to quintuple the filesize? This gallery has 5 blank pages worth 70MB. That's the size of the entire raw scan.

wat

I can sincerely understand how you feel Red—especially since Macross Delta heavily leans more on its idol roots compared to previous entries (it should be booming with tons of fan art, but strangely enough it isn't), so thanks for the translation.

@endlessa6yss
This is just my analytical opinion, but delta fans are probably just that—delta fans. I say this because Delta is by far the most inviting to newcomers due to it's changes (heavily following the trend of idol units and the reflection it has on the music). By this I'm implying they haven't watched any other previous entry.
Almost any other entry (other than the Macross 7 stories) are far better than Macross Delta, so it ends up being less memorable.
It's also hard to get invested into the characters of Delta because they tried to focus on more than 4 characters. Because of this reason and the lack of enough screen time, the cast ends up with basic and shallow character traits and backgrounds that can be summarized in a paragraph for each of them.
And when all of these factors are accounted for, you get the lukewarm fan-media response—which is still sad, but ultimately understandable.

Edit:
Can't say I would know to be honest, but off an assumption I would say not very much. The reception of Delta pales in comparison to frontier's, and the post-launch attention Delta gets isn't as hyped up as of late (other than the fact the remake movie came out in February).
These reasons listed right above and the fact that the characters aren't very well fleshed would indicate that attachment to the show and characters aren't very high, but I'd also like to add that the franchise doesn't actually get that much fan-media response in the first place—especially in the west—for another whole set of reasons.

@MackDiesel
Honestly, I think it's fine if Macross emphasizes on music; the franchise owes its most iconic moment to the performance of Ai oboete imasu ka. It just shouldn't shaft everything else that's important in it's along the way. I'm also not huge into idol culture, but I can see the appeal of Walkure—that is to say after listening to their albums and EPs that some of their songs are good.

>Red's rant:

- How many Delta fans are actually Delta or Macross fans?
- Might certain aspects of the show influence how invested the "fans" are into the characters? I.e. the numerous characters, the execution and focus (story, minimum --although likeable-- characterizations, etc.), etc.?

[Edit] >Vanilla Cream -->

To clarify the first point: I surmise most of the Japanese newcomers to Delta are idols fans. How many of them are actually fans of the show and/or attached to the characters?

As a macross series, it's rather disive due to how it tried to go into various directions (much like the similar lukewarm recieved kancolle anime) neither of them particularly well. Following the much beloved
Frontier doesn't help either. As such I don't think too many people would be quick to scan doujins, particularly westerners. And while Delta has nice girls, I can easily say the same about more popular series either in general or in the Macross family.

Now KLK getting so few doujins/moderate amount of fanart despite being hyper fanservicey and done by a supposedly super popular studio, now that's a mystery.

As for the doujin itself, that's a bit of unexpected direction

Edit: Vanilla Cream: That does remind me of a worry that Macross might be emphasizing far more the music than anything else as I've heard idol nuts say "at least it gave us Valkure"; something that would likely cause a massive split if it does happen; between older fans who like mecha/etc and the newer ones just in it for idol music. Only thing stopping me from believing it fully is how much better Frontier was handled in all areas, such a shift doesn't make sense after a successful series.

As for fan-media; most that's seen is japanese made and if one compares Frontier to Delta, that's like comparing the hoover dam to a water tower. Though western reception is a bit weak due to Harmony Gold and their muckery (though I doubt it'd have turned things around for Delta; just tick off more people0

It's strange that they're so large since here they files are only around 4mb, like the original. Something must've gone bad when uploading it to google drive... I'll try and look for that in the future.
