@SchlockHolmes: you are right, bitch (in Japanese) is a loan word which has for meaning slut, not "an unkind or unpleasant woman", Japanese being not always the most loyal to the original meaning, what doesn't prevent questionable translators to transcribe it as is. Now, I thought bitch could be used in English as a less often used synonym of slut but I don't see such definition in my online Cambridge dictionary or Wordreference...

I don't think "bitch" has shifted in meaning when taken as a loan word in Japanese. I think it's shifted in meaning in English since Japanese adopted it.
The Japanese "bitch" is closer to one of the 'older' meanings of the word - the female of an animal pairing, usually when breeding is concerned. And, since Japanese only references women who get around a lot (breed) as being "bitches", I think my theory is not too far off.
