I think you should quit this pencil coloring - that ruins all the work, and you're limited in colors. Make fine scetches and scan em, then color on PC, or just use something that can do smooth covering
MAke backgrounds lighter, make char's shadow or silouette outline - I tell you this works in commercial design

If you are using color pencils don't concentrate in a cell shading style, try use a digital board for your drawings or only the coloring if you scan the draw, oh yeah, and you need to lear how to ink boy.
