Not really a happy end in chapter two, the overall story keeps going on and it's pretty dark overall. I'm really not into the whole premise of these, big turn off personally.

I hope they at least relocated the wife to a different city. It would be incredibly awkward if the abusive husband went to the nearest love doll store, saw his former wife on sale at reduced price, and just bought her with the money he took from her. They didn't even bother to alter her face. It's like the least effective version of witness protection ever.

@Nicosai: Okay, they don't care about her, fine. But, it would have been cheaper and more effective to wipe the abusive husband's memory when they removed her. Now, they have to pay to have his corpse removed, and reformatting her likely costs something. And I assume the new owner may be able to demand they repair any damages he suffered, since the damages originated from them doing nothing to conceal her identity. Point is, all of this mess could have been easily avoided, and instead they took the lazy, more costly route for what was a reduced pride love doll to start with.

Honestly as 'bad' as the sequel to this particular one is, it's still far better than the rest of the Tank Lol. I mean yeah it 'kinda' nulls but it still leaves it open for them to work through it all --- again. I mean for ANYONE curious as to what happens, the dick of a ex-husband comes back and tries to NTR her, but ...stuff happens, and he dies.The mc in this actually doesn't take the shit and does something, and while the ending of that one isn't as fluffy, it still gives hope for a better life for her and chance for things to be worked out.

@dap00: I didin't understand, why exactly they took her away (probably explained in another story), but considering they put a slave collar on her and sold her for money, I doubt her welfare was their major concern, so they probably wouldn't have cared, if he bought her back right away.

They mostly seem to take away women who are government dissidents or complain about the government in any way. Its a way to enforce a facist totalitarian government. I wouldnt be surprised if the men just got killed instead.

This series has such good art, great sex, and well thought-out premise, but again and again ruins it all by just NEEDING to be as edgy as possible. The angle of not everyone being an asshole rapist in a porn dystopia like this one is pretty interesting and honestly the best part of this whole series, can't think of any other story besides this one that does that, but nope, just can't allow anything but an outright bad end.

And god damn, "bittersweet?" "Wasn't too bad?" Are you kidding me? Memories, personality, everything in her brain got scrubbed clean, there's nothing left. "That woman is no longer here." There is no silver-lining bullshit to this, she's fucking dead, just like all the rest.

I will agree with Zakuzelo that this didn't really need a bad end but I can't say I'm surprised, the best outcome I've seen from Fan no Hitori works is one where the women are addicted to dick and the worse case scenario is enslaved, cumdumpsters or mind wiped.
I also feel like this was an opportunity for a happy ending since all the other chapters were darker and explored the realism of humanity. The first was a spoiled rich kid who didn't value life and loaded them up with add ons. The next was Kendo kids who had good intentions at first but at that age and in that world I can't say I fault them. Then you got the idols crazy fans who just see her as an object and the girls going to the office where I'm sure the men have become desensitized to these things. We finally get a chance with an innocent salary man who wants a little companionship and arguably he gets the saddest ending cause he still has awareness of what happened.

Benevolent sexual slavery is still sexual slavery. Sure, it's unnecessarily edgy but I feel that's the point the author is trying to get across. When you reduce a woman to the status of property, you are no longer defending her right to have free will. Even if he 'rescues' her and doesn't give out commands to her, the girl is still obligated to be a companion for him due to society and her status as a love doll.

The happy ending was technically doomed the moment they put the collar on her.

I started thinking about how this ended with a sense of sadness, but not too intense as she's mentally gone, but physically there and not abused.

Then I remember this is a Fan no Hitori work, and feared the author will come back and make the male MC turn into a violent wife beater just like the original husband, because "she's not the same woman"

Thankfully two years later this is untouched. Edit: Uh oh, I'm reading some comments talking about a sequel that came out. Hopefully they mean chapter 2?

Honestly if your not into bad-end stuff you shouldnt read fan no hitori's work. I see all these comments hating the ending and two thoughts constantly entering my mind are 1. Why are you reading it if you know its going to end badly and 2. why are you taking this so serious. Like i get it. the art is wonderful. But this guy likes dark story lines, and honestly i like em too. Like its a fantasy not real. So just enjoy it. If you cant because of the story theres plenty vanilla artists that draw equal and better.

This was a pretty sweet story until Izumi's personality rewrite.Very dark and sad.

@idiotmonkey People are allowed to express their feelings about a story so long as the comment section is an option. People aren't purposefully reading things that makes them upset just to leave a bad review. A lot of the most darkest od doujin and hentai present themselves as tame on the surface until you get several pages in deep. This one has several tags, some that cross over to even the vanilla stuff like "milf" and "big breasts". It happens that people stumble across something they found uncomfortable or not what it seemed to them. How about YOU not take it so seriously that people leave negative comments on a doujin. Not everything is positive affirmations. I find it ironic how you can accept dark or messed-up stories, but not negative comments on said doujin. If you enjoyed this story from start to finish and you're one of those who like these themes, good for you. There's nothing wrong with that no more than there is for those that like vanilla. But just don't keep pretending there's no shift and some of us are exhausted from said shift.

Also "vanilla" is increasingly rare by the day. Even the ones that are uploaded here recently could actually have been an older doujin from about a decade ago but was recently translated. As more people consume doujins, apparently they get desensitized and demand edgier and darker things. That's why NTR is so popular. Artists draw what sells. If they can find a balance to, they may work in their own specialties. But pretending vanilla hasn't been pushed out of the normality of doujins that it's easy to just go find or commission more is pretty dense.
