Both really are best read together. Pulls the whole story together.
A lot of times, yaoi and yuri seem to have their own defined tropes. For yuri, the biggest thing seems to be - drama created from nothing/very small moments. You see stuff all the time and think "Jesus, it's so obvious you both like each other, just go out!" or "you both love each other so much, she won't hate you for X/Y/Z small thing!"
What I like about this piece is that it adds a bit of realism to that whole schtick. Two girls really like each other, both really anxious about going out. You see how something, although it may seem so obvious from one characters point of view, is easily missed by the other person. Often we get to see in the minds of these characters, which is an ability the other members of the cast don't get. So we are privvy to special information. Reading both books you can see how these misunderstandings often come to pass - after all, we're not mind readers! The girls don't know just how 'bursting at the seams' they both are for one another!
Great little idea by the artist to write a story like this. Truly enjoyed it - great stuff.
