Actually, I think there's a chance that if their parliament were to remove the law, or add an exception for hand drawn or computer created works it would probably a one-two day story and then everyone would move on. Meanwhile the Hentai industry, would probably rejoice in celebration, see dollar/yen signs and re-release as many past works as they could uncensored.

No politician is going to risk their career being "that guy" who brought up porn laws in parliament when there are bigger things to deal with. You're overestimating how non chalant people will be and if it was as minor as you think it would have been done already.

To add to the above: mandatory censorship of "obscene materials" is part of Japan's Constitution, not just a law, and it's extremely hard to amend Japan's Constitution. As it stands, the judges who laid down the ruling that if it's properly censored ("properly" being according to prefectural police subsidiaries and whatnot) then it doesn't qualify as "obscene" enough to apply the law, well, those judges were technically overreaching. This whole thing is in a pretty precarious position to begin with, so lightsaber genitals is about the best we can expect until the 2020 Olympics have come and gone, at the very least.
