@RabidTanker Blame the rise of GameFAQs and internet guides. Why waste 20-30 bucks on a strategy book when you can find detailed maps and guides online for free on you pc or phone in like 2 minutes or less?

This is also the reason why gaming magazines died. The internet is faster and more convenient for people. Its the blessing and curse of living in the modern world.

Fair point, but I kind of missed the humor in them. (Nintedo' Power's guide for The Thousand Year Door was a great read.)

No, its because game companies don't play nice with strategy guide companies/writers anymore.

Just look at all the concept art here. Its obviously not ripped promotional material. The 3D models were obviously taken with the help of dev tools. AND don't forget the biggest piece: strategy guide writers used to get the game BEFORE a game's release so they could play said game and write said guide.

Fast forward to today's "we'll have a day one patch that fixes things!"-bullshit, and things get ugly.
