Okay, if you compare Meiling to, let's say Reimu, she doesn't seem powerful at all. BUT, she has the power to manipulate Chi at will and she's a youkai. That is pretty badass, but her personality has healed from having guidance and comfort of a home to make her more lax. It's kinda funny in a sense on how well this story just works so well with the game.
