@fudragon: It's not that Goku doesn't care about his family and friends.
It's that they almost always take a backseat to his getting stronger.
He actually forgot Gohan existed for a while, because Gohan didn't fight anymore. And if Goten didn't look just like him I swear he'd take Trunks home by mistake sometimes.
