I'm betting the writing/story has something to do with the poor rating on the Japanese version. Like, maybe the writing was already REALLY bad, but the translation made it fully unintelligible, so we're just rating it based on the art and what little we can draw from the literary Rorschach test of a "story".

I like the art, but there's some weird effect on some of the pictures that makes part of the drawing look partially out of focus or blurry. It really prevents me from enjoying this, even more than the bad translation.
