This volume is a dramatic interpretation of the Melusine boss fight. Melusine preys on Lenna's insecurities (particularly her inability to do anything on her own), and finds a particularly sore spot in her feelings for Bartz. Melusine claims that Bartz leaving Lenna behind was his way of letting her down gently, and that even if he did love her Lenna's position would make the relationship impossible. But not to worry, because Melusine has a great way to make it so Lenna is no longer royalty.
