This may actually mark the first gallery to explicitly note itself to be a rip of a NewTumbl blog. One small step for pony and homestuck it seems.
https://reisartjunk.newtumbl.com/ __________________________ Scraping Process: I basically did this manually, no software. Jdownloader2 has no plugin dedicated to NewTumbl (yet), and no dedicated piece of software exists either.
I did this after uploading the previous Reisartjunk gallery once I noticed they were actually fairly active still and posting a lot on NewTumbl, which was probably the most perfect situation since the site does not tamper with image quality at all. There's on image that probably won't upload in this batch that is an ungodly 2924x2772 PNG that's nearly 6.77MB's in size. It's just a sketch, but I love it as proof of this sites superiority over Tumblr as a social platform to artists.
One issue I'll bring up that you will immediatley notice is the arrangement of images. Oddly enough, the one positive of Tumblr is that it seemed to assort an ascending ID of some kind to all images. So somehow, no matter what, so any scrapes of a Tumblr blog will ALWAYS be in (almost) chronological order of posts. The only exception are Tumblr's "inline" images, which I can't remember what those would have been. I think like if an Ask Post got a reply with an image or something.
I think the remedy for any one else in the world with OCD who is also interested in making a program for this site would be to take the post ID and slap it together with the image ID
So this post would result in something like https://reisartjunk.newtumbl.com/post/12854169-vQnw8X
as output. Maybe. That's the best solution I have in mind for at least keeping images in the same grouping together
On the topic of tumblr ask posts though, I just realized something worrying about my scraper settings in the past relating to disabling reblogs, but whatever in that regard. Artists posting the part 2 of some work with a reblog and all that. Tenk comes to mind whenever they'd post the nude versions of character profiles. ___________ On NewTumbl:
It's honestly astonishing NewTumbl didn't just catch on like wildfire when it first hit the scene. It attempts to replicate the Tumblr experience. If you're an artist and you actually care about how a service is handling your art, it does not seem to do anything to your work. You're allowed to post porn.
As someone obsessed basically with image preservation, preserving the high quality versions of those images are also on the top of the list, so the fact that it doesn't attempt to resize and resample images is a major plus to me.
However, this probably will mark one of the few times I go out of my way to archive one of these blogs. Few people use it as it stands, and without a proper tool, it's more time consuming than twitter.
