The sister was mind controlled to love all this shit (literally). The protagonist was only mind controlled to follow their orders while still hating it. The deal was they'd be freed after a month. On the last day, they get shoved into that thing for five days. Whoever put them there said "I freed you from the mind control, but if you want to return to your normal life you need to stay another half year. If you want though, I'll be kind and mind control you so that you enjoy it. If you refuse, I'll make sure you suffer." Then after the five days are up her she finds out her sister died in there and she accepts the mind control.
