You'll find that images compress much better if you level them*. As it is now, they're bloated ~3x because you're using so many bits for faithfully saving the grain of the paper.
Using as an example page 15 that in your gallery is 3.106 KB. Once leveled (parameters: black 80, white 230, gamma 1) it becomes 1.276 KB, and if you run it through PNGOut 1.085 KB.
Going a little further, if you save it with a 32-entry palette (only advised on grayscale images with screentones, such as pages 8-31), it becomes 819 KB, and once run through PNGOut 764 KB.

* necessitates a half-decent image editing program geared towards photography, basically anything better than MS Paint will do. If you contact a scanlation group they may point you towards some good ones. Personally I'm using an old copy of Paint Shop Pro that I purchased ~10 years ago, I hear many people use bootleg copies of Photoshop but I'm a little wary of trying them myself.

@JukanX There are often photography and art bundles on humblebundle where you can pick up a newer copy of paintshop pro for less than $20 for the full bundle and if the software is in a lower tier, it may cost just $10. can choose how much goes where with the sliders, so there is no excuse these days for using bootleg copies of something which can be riddled with spy/malware.

Thank you for the feedback, especially JukanX who gave a detailed guide on how to drastically lower the image file size. I'll definitely look into this and try to make the coming chapters much less bloated, as well as fixing this one when the whole tankoubon is done.
