Randomly, I wonder why dryers aren't more ubiquitous in Japanese apartments (or at least in mangas and doujinshi). As an OCD laundry do-er person, I'm sure the air-drying probably keeps their dark clothes dark and their colours much better, but dang, just feels like a lot of effort. Also, you gotta iron especially if you have work clothes or button downs.

@aleden My understanding is there's just not the infrastructure for it -- a standard electric dryer needs a 220v electrical circuit, and even the gas and compact electric ones need a vent to the outside, and apartments and houses just haven't been built with the hookups.
