Makes no sense that they would make Jane sleep in Jakes bed anyway (other than an excuse to draw the awkward last panel). Stands to reason that since the mother is nearly the same size as Jane she would have a bed big enough to accommodate her properly (much more so that Jake's much smaller bed) and they were also former lovers, which would be all the more reason why any logical being would have her sleep in moms bed.
