Jikokuro Matsuri is a traditional festival that has a long history since the Edo period held in Ryukaku Village. In the old days, Ryukaku Village was cursed by Onnanai, a god native to the village, who no longer had a woman born. When the village's generations is in danger of being cut off, the Jikokuro brothers solve the problem by kidnapping a maiden from a neighboring village and connecting the village's generations. The villagers hold the annual Jikokuro Matsuri Festival to honor the Jikokuro brothers for saving the village from the crisis. Even today, for the festival, Ryukaku villagers lure or kidnap outside woman to the village.
