Description:
It’s Saber clone! Like Charlotte, Sylvia is one of the love interests in the game and anime Princess Lover! but her most conspicuous trait is her resemblance to Saber. Sylvia wears trousers instead of a skirt and wields a rapier rather than a broadsword but the similarity is blatant, even egregious. Homage or ripoff, you decide.
I’m not sure if there’s a catchphrase to describe Sylvia’s personality. She is duty-minded, determined, and somewhat humorless. Characters not represented in Volks’s lineup include Yuu, a friendly, subservient maid, and Seika, a snotty brat with a repulsive personality.
Seika from Princess Lover This picture is only tangentially related to this review.
This figure is a prepainted figure from E2046 and is billed as 1/6 scale, although it’s really closer to 1/7. As Sylvia has three different display modes, she arrived separated in numerous parts, which fit together fairly well. Her breastplate has magnets to help it snap into place. She also has an extra arm which effects a more combative pose, and a pair of exposed breasts. More on this latter item in a bit.
One of the nicest aspects of Sylvia is the metallic paint on her armor. It looks very attractive, providing an eye-catching contrast to her dark, leather-look trousers and blue tunic. (Cynics may note that this wardrobe type and color combination is obviously already tried and true.)
She comes with an alternative right arm which extends straight out, holding her fencing rapier in a confrontational pose. She strikes this pose in the anime, so it looks pretty nice. One problem is that the sword is a bit flimsy and mine has a small but conspicuous bend in it about a third of the way from the hilt.
While Charlotte could be stripped to her skivvies, Sylvia is a bit more demure in that her clothes cannot be removed, but she is a fair bit more raunchy because her chest can be swapped out. To remind you of what she comes from, she can be made to flash her boobs for all the world to see. I’m not going to inline them here but here they are: The breasts! Show them to me! That cannot be all! Show me more! Ahahaha don’t stop now! Let’s see them all! More! MORE! Bah, I’m spent.
A fully-clothed figure is something of a rarity in my collection but I like Sylvia a lot. Part of that is because I do like the character, despite how appalling the anime is. I also like girls in armor, and I like the duty-minded archetype, so I’m pretty happy to have this figure. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Leonia says: September 22, 2009 at 3:25 AM I prefer Charlotte at Sylvia (I find that she looks like Saber, and I think that disturbs me). Really nice picture (if you want participate again at Shadonia, contact me ^^)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Guy says: September 22, 2009 at 4:15 AM I also thought upon seeing the first image, “Saber!” She also has the bun tied at the back, sorta.
You like this figure cause you like Saber 😉
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ gundamjehutykai says: September 22, 2009 at 1:35 PM Given that the original was sculpted by Misaki Serika from A-Brand, I’m quite surprised to see that they decided to completely ignore physics when sculpting the bare chest extra part. Either that or Sylvias armour contains a vector trap (Zone of the enders reference) or something cos those melons cannot be contained by a mere piece of metal that size!!
At least Charlotte’s costume showed that there was some difficulty restraining that which wished to be free… Still, I much prefer Sylvie over Charlotte, both as kits and characters. But we need more Yuu!!!

I’ll resize the pictures and send them off to you. I think I like Charlotte better too, since she’s depicted with such a sunny, fun-loving personality.
>> Guy The funny thing is, I know of one other h-game (Princess Waltz) with yet another Saber clone. I guess if you’re going to rip off someone else’s characters, you might as well go with one of the most iconic.
Yeah, I guess that’s a big reason. I’ve said I’m not a big huge Saber fan but by that I mean I’m not a big huge Fate/stay night fan, and by that I really mean that I hugely despise Emiya Shirou. Man what a putz. It’s not often that a single character sours me on an entire franchise, but if there was one fictional character I wish I could throttle, it’d be him.
>> gundamjehutykai Haha, maybe the Arima corporation employs world-class blacksmiths in addition to everything else they do? (I recall they constructed a self-righting motorcycle in the anime.) I do truly appreciate how Japanese character designers never let physics or physiology get in the way of what the people want.
I wonder why they stopped at just two characters? I don’t really care much for tsundere characters but I know a lot of people do like that sort of thing, and maids are always classic.

It’s true, she looks like Saber, but she still keeps her own personality. The armor is very realistic with metallic paint. Very nice acquisition. Congratulations!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Guy says: September 23, 2009 at 9:11 PM How do you feel about Shinji Ikari? 😀
And as much as I can like the seiyu who did Shirou elsewhere (as Ishida and Sasuke), I so didn’t like him in that role…
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tier says: September 23, 2009 at 10:36 PM >> Lylibellule Thanks! One of the best things about Sylvia is that she doesn’t have some spineless master holding her down. At least, I don’t think she does. From what little I watched of the anime, I did not get the feeling that the main character was going to end up with her (although I could be wrong).
>> Guy It’s been a long, long time since I watched Evangelion but I actually didn’t hate him too much. I thought he acted how a normal fourteen-year old might when put in that sort of situation. Also, I didn’t find many of the characters in the series to be all that likeable (except for Misato, I think), so Shinji didn’t stand out as much as someone like Shirou, who was definitely the floating turd in the punch bowl of that show.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Wolfheinrich says: September 24, 2009 at 12:53 AM I was going to go for Sylvia when E2046 first showed her off, but then I realized my money could be better spent on another Dollfie Dream so I had to pass her up. I didn’t care for Charlotte much because I thought her figure was too disproportion for my taste. I like body proportion that are pleasing to the eyes.
I didn’t realize you dislike Shirou that much, did you play the Unlimited Blade Work arc? I think he is more likeable there, couldn’t stand him in the Fate arc though.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tier says: September 25, 2009 at 1:02 AM I did not, I don’t actually have any familiarity with the franchise apart from the Fate/stay night anime (and from what I’ve read on Wikipedia). I could only stomach the first half of the TV show; I stopped watching a few episodes after Rider’s arc ended.
I didn’t actually plan on buying Sylvia at first; I wanted Charlotte specifically because she was disproportionate XD Then I watched the first couple episodes of Princess Lover and decided I liked Sylvia enough to buy her figure. (Then I watched a few more episodes of Princess Lover and decided that it was some of the silliest drek that I’ve ever watched.)

Youre comment about Emiya Shirou was so hilarious! Its one of those Character Archetypes that can only exist in fiction and actually get on every sanes persons nuts.In the end those guys are the most selfish persons ever created ingnoring everyone else and just sticking to their status quo no matter what the cost.
Princess Waltz? Crappy game…But I didnt really see the “Prince” I forgot her name as a Saber Clone.God I hated the linearity of that game.
Oh yeah I was here to talk about the figure ^^;;; I cant really tell why but theres something about her that doesnt cut the cake for me.It might be her facial expression but somethings not appealing to me.
What are those objects you used in the shoot? ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tier says: October 5, 2009 at 3:28 PM The show would’ve been about two thousand times better if Rin were Saber’s master. For many reasons.
I was thinking about picking up Princess Waltz but then I read that there wasn’t much H in it, so I don’t know if I will. Visual novels without the H isn’t really my thing.
The items are chess pieces. I got an abstract art chess set for my birthday one year, but since I don’t know anybody in real life who likes to play chess, I haven’t used it much. I thought they’d be interesting to use here, though.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Blowfish says: October 6, 2009 at 4:07 AM Well,I can sum up Princess Waltz rather quick:
One H-Scene with the Prince during the middle of the game due to a certain circumstance. And later on in the game another H-Scene with one of the other Girls for Synchronization Purposes. I cant remember if theres a final H-Scene at all ^^;;
If youre in it for the H I cant recommend Princess Waltz since it hasnt got that many and well youll have to play a fairly lenghty card battle part to unlock one of the other girls scene.Sure those battles fresh up the linearity of the game but they arent fun either.
And well storylike its the typical I will protect you crap.
Overall the game has a rather shounen like feel with most attention paid to the battle between the princesses and well yeah dont waste your money
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Guy says: October 6, 2009 at 5:17 AM Tier, it might be time to teach chess to some new people.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tier says: October 6, 2009 at 2:39 PM >> Blowfish Gee, that doesn’t sound too promising. Guess I’ll pass on that unless I’ve got some money left over (which is unlikely). I’m looking forward to Lightning Warrior Raidy II though.
>> Guy Unfortunately, the one person I tried to teach chess to was this one girl who was a bit too drunk to get the rules. Plus I know how it’d go:
“How come my pawns can’t move two spaces now? You just moved your pawn two spaces!” “Hey, that piece just jumped over those other pieces! You’re cheating!” “En passant WTF?! You’re just making this crap up as you go, aren’t you??”
You know what it’s time for me to do? It’s time for me to figure out how to get nested comments working on this thing.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Guy says: October 9, 2009 at 5:37 PM If I’ve learnt chess when I was about six years old, I’m sure you can teach it to people your age.
And yes, it’s definitely time for nested comments. And the sidebar widget telling us what are the most recent comments made 😉

Man, Tentacle Armada is such a deceptive name. I came in thinking "Oh, tentacles!" and instead found reviews of figurines, almost all of which don't even have tentacles.
There is that tentacle heavy h-game from a few years ago -- the site did a super-extensive, informative review of that game, despite its complete lack of an English release, and then never reviewed another game again.
