I just had a look at the author's blogpost. They made it very clear that they THRIVE on conflict and drama. To the point that they introduce new characters for the sake of drama and then become obsessed with how the new character can continue to cause conflict and drama. They claimed that they would make a return to the more "simple and silly" style that they had before but I am of the opinion that it will only slow down the spiral in to soap opera bullshit. If the author genuinely gets off on conflict then they will be motivated to create more conflict without reaching any satisfying conclusions, mainly because they can get their jollies by adding to the pile rather than cleaning up and moving forward. Small note: the author is currently portraying Alison as a victim, even though Alison has arguably been the most hated character to many fans. That should tell you everything you need to know.
