@Hawk86 While this situation is just so they end up fucking, you'd be surprised by how a lacking sexual education can lead to real misunderstandings like this.
Sadly it's common for people to have little to no understanding of the opposite sex, due to how taboo sex is as a subject.
The most famous example is a couple in china that tried to get pregnant for years, only to find out they had been doing anal the entire time...

"[insert name in third person] knows" is also a common line (at least in anime/manga) that a child says when they're trying to show off (usually overly simplified or completely incorrect) knowledge beyond their age. I do like the idea of her using this as a pretense much better, though.
