On p. 13, she's appears to be using a cat o' nine tails. An adult female in a roughly Middle Ages-equivalent era is likely to not survive 200 lashes with the cat, and stands essentially no chance at 400. For comparison: in the 17th - 19th century British Navy, 250-500 lashes was considered sufficient to kill an able-bodied adult male sailor.
