I purchased this art book recently from my private seller as it contained illustrations and interviews with Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. This book is relatively easy to find and generally for a good price, however there aren't many scans available of the supplemental materials in the back (I am still processing all of the scans and am a very busy individual, I will upload them all in time.) Over all, this book covers Mobile Suit Gundam's compilation film illustrations, Brave Raideen, Combattler V, Arion, Dirty Pair, Crusher Joe, as well as concept art for White Fang (Shiroi Kiba: White Fang no Monogatari) and Kum Kum.
As the original character designer for the original Crusher Joe and Dirty Pair light novels (written by Haruka Takachiho [高千穂 遙] ), Yasuhiko gives a small interview about some curated illustrations from the light novels. Only a few novels are covered as the others had not been published at the time of this book's release; the Crusher Joe film (1983) had not even been released yet whereas standard, well known illustrations from the Gundam compilation films are very prevalent in this book. This helped me better time the release and date as there isn't much information about when this book was published (that I could find anyway). If anyone has a definitive answer on when this book was released, do let everyone know.
Light novels covered in the back of this art book are:
-Crusher Joe 1: Crisis on Solidarity Planet Pizanne (クラッシャージョウ 1 連帯惑星ピザンの危機) -Crusher Joe 2: Extermination! The Space Pirates Trap (クラッシャージョウ 2 撃滅!宇宙海賊の罠) -Crusher Joe 3: The Final Secret of the Milky Way (クラッシャージョウ 3 銀河系最後の秘宝) -Crusher Joe 4: Cave of the Cult of the Dark God (クラッシャージョウ 4 暗黒邪神教の洞窟) -Crusher Joe 5: Treachery Toward the Galactic Empire (クラッシャージョウ 5 銀河帝国への野望) -The Great Adventure Of The Dirty Pair (ダーティペアの大冒険)
I am archiving these illustrations in relationship also to Yas' design sensibilities in the 1970s for SF themed anime and manga as many aren't online either sans for his gouache paintings and settei drawings. Design properties from the Crusher Joe light novels appear in Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) and were also featured in the cancelled Terrahawks anime (1974). Other design sensibilities from Yas' time working on Space Battleship Yamato can also be seen in these scans. Crusher Joe was eventually made into a feature length film in 1983 where Yas was very hands on with the production.
This book was in better condition, but I did what I could to preserve the line quality of each drawing. This book is over 40+ years old and had to be handled sensitively, otherwise I could have seriously damage my copy. I don't do this professionally, but I am trying to archive the best that I can. Its better that anything becomes public on the web just as it should.
