@spierdalacz I'm actually curious about that, so the modern depiction of fantasy elves as beautiful immortal people who live in forests originated from Tolkien? Also did the Japanese take their interpretation of fantasy elves from Tolkien too? What about Orcs? The Japanese Orcs are often explicitly pig-like. Meanwhile when I think of western Orcs I think more of the Warcraft orcs or 40k/Warhammer orcs. Less focus on pig-like features though they still have tusks and large bodies. Japanese fantasy Orcs are often fat while western Orcs are typically muscular.
