The story idea is not especially original, but the script based on that idea seems quite decent. I’ts kind of sad the author invented a virus that affects people’s clothing. Otherwise I’d call this an above-average pandemic fantasy. The art is not quite on par with, say, Druuna, but I can appreciate pictorial storytelling when someone clearly invests huge amounts of work into it. The level of realism is so high at times that I think the author could also have handled depicting the physical and emotional effects of bodies mutating when clothes do not.
A minor point that feels weird to me: Would SWAT or army snipers in the U.S. really go for the head the very first time they open fire on civilians (ch. 5, p. 61)? I might understand that if they were facing an overwhelming crowd (like the local police force moments earlier). But in that situation... An unarmed civilian who has returned from full riot mode to desperate explanations. Would a rifle shot in the leg not deliver the desired message clearly enough? Sure, with some bad luck, and with the hospital already in trouble, the target might die from shock and blood loss, but at least the shooter would be able to say, "All I tried to do was stop them." Even if you’re not confident you can hit early enough, you go for the torso, not the head, don’t you? To me, that scene was like the authorities deliberately stressing, "Your lives are worth nothing in this situation!"
EDIT: Wait what, the resolution goes down to unbearable on page 76? And there is another really weird plot twist?
Hum. Maybe I’ll revisit this one some day when I have more spare time.
