I spent quite a lot of time with this. It's my first translation of any kind, and I completed it using a combination of Google Translate (for text entry) and DeepL Translate for the actual translation. From there, I used paint.net to actually edit the text on the page.

All in all, this took about 26 hours of work, where I got faster and faster as I started to recognize different kanji and as I started getting faster at writing them with my mouse into Google Translate. (Yes I used a mouse.)

The editing work itself is a bit sloppy, but it's mostly minor stuff like bad erasing of the previous onomatopoeia. If you are interested in editing it yourself, please feel free to do so if you've already supported Kawahagitei.

If you have any feedback for me, I'll try to be a little active. Thank you.

EDIT: well while I was copying files from the "textless" folder to the "english" folder to upload all as one, it deleted all of my work. fuck.

sorry to hear about your lost work. hopefully you can re-do it without too much of a headache. as an author i understand the aggravation of needing to redo a project because of a accidental deletion.

@MistaLOD I haven't done this stuff for a while since I left the community but iirc I used a Optical Character Recognition program called Capture2Text to speed this along. It basically lets you draw a box over a speech bubble and it will read the text and spit out editable text which you can then tweak and then paste into DeepL. There might be better programs around than Capture2Text these days as it struggled a bit on some characters which I needed to fix manually but in any case it should still be better than writing out every character by hand even if there isn't something newer and better.

Don't let the cliquey elitists get you down, the vast majority of us love to be able to read English text that is pleasant to read even if it's not perfectly accurate.
