This is the original version of Sanpei Shirato (白土三平)'s Legend of Kamui (カムイ外伝) series. I got access to these files via a now dead torrent, so I am uploading them here for archival reasons. This series so far has only been introduced to the West via Viz' release in the 1980s with Stan Sakai's direction, however those volumes are only of Sanpei's later series in the 1970s pertaining to the lore for Legend of Kamui.
The Legend of Kamui was originally serialized in Garo magazine from the mid 1960s til the early 1970s, whereas Sanpei re-serialized the original series from 1982 to 2000 in Big Comics.
The Legend of Kamui follows the story of Kamui, a young ninja who live in the Edo/Tokugawa period/era who decided to leave his clan. After doing so, he is pursued relentlessly by the members of his former clan who consider him to be a traitor. This series is incredibly important to the development of what is known as Gekiga (劇画) or 'dramatic pictures'. This movement in the mid 1960s to the 1970s changed the face of manga and visual story telling during an era populated by the likes of Osamu Tezuka's general influence.
None of these volumes are translated, however they are simply being uploaded for posterity. If you wish to translate them or do what you will with them, by all means.
