The ending is underwhelming, of course. It had to be, since the whole premise of the story is that two people refuse to acknowledge an elephant in the room to ridiculous lengths.
It's still one of the most thoughtful endings I've read in an ntr hentai, even if it's because the competition is so deeply lackluster.

This is honestly the best cheating doujinshi I've ever read. Introspective commentary from the cheating spouse that doesn't justify her actions, but humanizes them... brilliant. You NEVER get that kind of writing in doujinshi like this, and it also helps that the cheating itself never felt melodramatic. She gets taken advantage of and takes advantage of other people as a response. You don't have the woman becoming a cock hungry whore after cheating for the first time... she's just starved of love and basic attention but manages to reel herself in before it gets out of hand. And the ending was incredibly bittersweet but appropriate and, above all else, realistic. The couple recognises how much they are equally at fault for the marriage falling apart, get divorced and move on like proper adults.

Excellent storytelling from start to finish. As far as I'm concerned, this is the gold standard of "cheating" doujinshi.

Not talking to each other about important things for 4 years was a symptom of a really shit marriage. Bittersweet ending, i hope there will be more cheating stories with consequence like this. Even until the end, akiko still lack of communication to her ex-husband, even though she still loves him ( i assume that because she's crying in the end, and i don't know who's the person she talked to on her phone, probably only coworkers, or maybe her new lover, but i doubt it). Maybe she's still feels guilty so she tried to avoid him.

But the thing that i don't like from this stories (or cheating stories in general) is that the story more focused on fmc/adulterer. We rarely see the perspective from the mc/victim, like how they recover after found out their partner had been cheating on them, how they move on, etc. We only see the perspective from the mc/victim in ntr stories, which is more depressing than cheating stories like this, and most of them becomes a cuck.

I feel conflicted.

On one hand this is probably one of the best cheating doujins out there that tackles the whole thing in a more realistic way, down to the bitter ending. A much better read than the usual nonsense where the female character is reduced to an ahegao emoji sputtering gibberish or the male character reduced to just some pathetic cuck simp. It could be a problem with this story generally. It doesn't really work if both parties are presented to have comparable (and unequal) faults. At worst, the husband just kept his mouth shut. At best, the wife is a cheated. What probably leaves a bad taste in many readers is that the story tries to show disproportional sympathy to the wife rather than the husband (who's portrayed angrily when he got his hands around her neck).

the thing with that is that on it's own yes it would be a problem but because the wife cheated it becomes somewhat irrelivant because she initiated an act that outside being forced to stay in the relationship couldn't be justified. cheating is virtually unjustifiable while still being understandable. you can wrap your head around the mentality behind a cheater even if the mindset is unbleeivably scummy but justifying it would often ignore directly attempting to deal with the problem picking the tougher option. if your partner isnt gonna provide what you need from them or arent willing to put their all in like you are you try to work things out or leave.

The story feels real enough that doesn't follow the typical hentai/NTR story progression where the heroin becomes a mindless cock slave.

While nothing justifies cheating, the ex-husband did contribute to the marriage breaking down. Even without the wife cheating, 4 year of witholding sex and fapping to porn and avoiding the conversation regarding having children when they were looking foirward to it initially, that is just messed up.

Really if only both of them were more honest with each other in communicating their problems all of this could have been avoided.

Ending was really kinda bittersweet. The way I look at it there are two ways to interpret the ending:
1. She had moved on, falling out of love with the ex-husband and letting her lover know on the phone everything is finally over.
2. She took the easy way out by leaving a damaged relationship, it is a lot harder to mend a broken relationship than just walk away.

Honestly it felt more like the latter if past behaviour is any indication.

Would have been nice if there is another 3 volumes post divorce showing how they rebuild trust and resisting temptations to cheat culminating in a remarriage.
