@Letmeinjoe09; I'm not sure where you're getting "good and a sympathetic" from in this, though since I can't read it I might be missing something. But looking at his way he treats her, rather than actually caring about her and protecting her out of love, it feels a lot more like he's treating her as his property. So since he's staked his claim on her, he takes a dim view of other men touching her without his permission.
When she's kissing him full of passion, his eyes are open without a shred of emotion. He doesn't seem to feel a thing for her besides lust and possessiveness. It's all about ego. He's being completely selfish and he'll either throw her away as soon as he gets bored or add her to his collection and use her whenever he's in the mood.
