Well I'll say this story works for 2 reasons.

1. It is way different then the standard and a breath of fresh air in any story vanilla or otherwise is always appreciated.

2. This is the most logical conclusion in a story like this. Why people think to ntr the guy trying to save the world is a good idea is beyond me. Hell I can only hope the fmc actually dies after cause, anyone who finds out she cause further enslavement would torture her to no end. Well I'm sure she'll have time to think about it as a breeding slave.

Okay, this is second comment, but with more depth and with more cold head.
"Do I really need to fight?" - this question is crucial for our Hero. He really put everything into fighting, choose to put everything into the skills and fought almost without rest with the enemy that was out of league for most of people. He sacrificed many things... But still, his light, Miria was right beside him. He could go like that because of her...
But than, even though He said about the defeat of Demon Lord first and only after the relationship, the Whore (I can use it, cause it feels right) just spread legs for the first men who tried go for her panties... Hero saw it, betrayal was harsh and he tried to kill the guy... to be betrayed again and now it came from somebody, who was the light for him... Yes, he couldn't bring himself to kill her. And filled with despair and anger, both are pretty powerful emotion (of course, He got nothing to lose), got his skills to the pinnacle and pointed the blade to the neck of the Demon Lord...
Let's stop here and speal about different point of view - conception of the "Hero". Most of the tales are ending with hero defeating "World Evil" and "Everything became good". But for more "real" stories how would kings/royalties/lords and so on would see the Hero? - somebody, who almost single-handenly destroyed Demon Lord Army + Demon Lord, I guess, as the danger. Great danger. So they could just grant him some normal town for his Victory or some Title... and try to keep him as busy as possible and without making an appearance at the palace. Plus, could try to give him some women/slaves and kill him in the sleep/poison him and so on... Yeah, pretty dark scenario, but that's closer to reality.
So, our Hero had only two routes: to kill Demon Lord and try to survive in the new world... but he choose to think. The Demon Lord is also great here: she understand, that there is no chance for her to win the battle, so she just accepted the fate, the Hero would choose for her. But voiced her opinion and opened her heart for the Hero. She accepted who he is and gave her life as the prize.
What the Hero saw... "Does this Kingdom, those people are worth saving now? Does it change anything for me? I don't have a place to return to, don't have people to return to... But she accepted me, she is truthful with me, she didn't hide anything from me. With her I felt warms I would never experience again..."
He choose to switch side. Can somebody blame him? Could? No. People themselves destroyed everything, brought ruins to themselves. So, the punishment is severe.
I can't call it hard NTR, at best light with retribution. And with good story and normal characters.

P.S. There are few stories that try to show some elements of this work:
1) Thug Hero Party - revenge, NTR by Whore childhood friend and sister. Bonus scene with Demon Lord
2) Hitsugi no Chaika - heroes after the victory over "World Evil". Not the best destiny.
3) NTR Knight Story - how the king just stole the Hero's party members and then, in some endings, Hero start destroying the Kingdom or do it.

They can complete their mission and go to fuck somewhere because the hero isn't going to murder them, but they choose to run away leaving the hero to a certain death, that means a demon horde gunning for them later, so same ending if they got their way.

The funny thing is even if he actually killed the demon lord, he would of called out those two at the celebration, at best (for them) they would of been shun to the max, at worst they would of been stoned to death or chased out of town.

Honestly the weird thing about "hero/powerful party member gets cucked/betrayed" stories is that more of them don't end with the guy doing what the hero did here. I'm reminded that historically men who seduced the girlfriends/wives of other men would just be taken out of town and killed- that is to say the "big chad who gets all the girls" is basically a modern invention, that playboys didn't exist because you'd literally be killed for it and only in the modern era could someone like that be protected under the law. In a medieval story there's not really a reason for people to not get, you know, medieval about people cucking other people.

This genre isn't my thing but I caught a glimpse of the comments when I backed out saying the ending was good so I came back and read it and I never felt like writing a comment like I do now.

Maybe this makes me a sadist or something but I feel like they got off way too easily for what they did to the hero for me to feel good about it. The both of them should've been repenting before him, begging for forgiveness and he should've slayed Carlos in front of Mirai with his own hands and she could've lived the rest of her days suffering like she made the hero. Had this been some stereotypical cuck MC I would've shrugged this off "retard deserved it" or something or another, but him not being some completely worthless, pitiful guy made me sympathetic to him and I think that's why what she did to the hero makes me sick to my stomach. I think the key moment was that I actually felt the Demon Lord was sincere. She was unflinching when Hero was coming down on her and pretty much absolved to her demise, but when Hero hesitated, she hit him with the reality(humans are evil too). I mean, she still gave him the option to finish her if he wanted, but when he fell into her arms, there was an actual look of shock on her face. This is why I don't believe all the people saying she tricked him into working for the demons.

10/10 even with the side stories we have so far. NTR stories that the mc(loser) doesn't become a cuck (aka goes on revenge or just starts a relationship with somebody else) are rare.
