Buck Godot, Zap Gun for Hire™℠®© is the first®™©℠ large-scale℠©®™ original®©™℠ work℠™©® of Phil Foglio™, as far as I am concerned.
Yes, there was Phil and Dixie, and then XXXenophile - but one is a gag-a-day strip, and other is a series of porn novelettes with no continious narrative structure. And MythAdventures rewrite is a derivative from Asprin's work - so, no.

Started as a series of small stories in random collections, the idea steadily grew into a larger piece of PSmIth and, later - into a crowning jewel that is The Gallimaufry.

Unfortunately, by the end of the run all plans regarding further cases had to be scrapped due to random nonsense and refocusing on the Foglio's new darling, one Agatha Heterodyne (formerly, Clay), following the quite successful début of whom almost all the cases - sans the second one, 'cause boobs - were released in web-form on Foglio's flagship.
Unfortunately still, due to incident that may or may not have been connected to Dark And Forbidden Arts and several Horrifying Ancient Curses interacting in quite a wonky way, the archives went down, and then were removed altogether. The intent to get thouse back was expressed by the Authors, but so far this task seems to be in a quite a low position on the totem pole of necessity for them, leaving us all literally waiting for Godot.
Oh, well.
