The biggest difference between DeepL and Google Translate is that DeepL completely drops parts it doesn't understand while Google Translate keeps it and is thus more incomprehensible because of it. While DeepL produces more legible results it's no less inaccurate. Neither can grasp context and are shit for anything approaching a story.

Honestly, there should be an exception to the rules and just be able to outright delete these god awful machine translations entirely. It's already inane to me (and probably several others, I'm betting) how stuff like this literally demotivates anyone to not properly translate something in the first place, when by all rights it should have the opposite effect...

Honestly if i want MTL i will read it myself, what program use these people to get the text to translate it? CaptureText isn't this good (i tried, works 60% of the time at best and some works it doesn't gra any bubble because of the text font or background)

capture2text is ancient. ocr has advanced a lot with ai learning. the best one is call manga_ocr on GitHub, need a bit of python knowledge to setup. otherwise find jp ocr rootkit.

@goldfishman the tag exists, its called Rough Translation and only people who have proven that they know what they're talking about are allowed to use it. Rough Grammar also tends to apply when people that barely understand English try to make English translations.

You're free to suggest new tags on the forum but you are unlikely to get anywhere if your only objective is to filter anything you consider garbage because there'd be no real way to prevent you from just accusing any uploader you have beef with from being MTL without anything to back your argument up.

I fully agree that an upload should take more effort than a combination of MS paint and DeepL but the EH community has proven that any tag that exists exclusively to filter this kind of shit will inevitably be used subjectively and/or abused to harass people who did make a genuine effort unless there are heavy regulations in place.

There's a lot of options available if you actually care to contribute to the site.
