Guess this type of story just isn't for me. Mainly because it just doesn't make any sense. The bribes, the logistics, the technology vs just an AI bot. Cause if you're advanced enough to reprogram a human brain, you can just fake it cheaper and only require electricity to keep a robot goin vs a cyborg that requires both special nutrients and electricity.

Maybe if it were a certain country where they have a couple peoples on their genocide list and organ harvesting to offset much of the costs. But still, it'd be cheaper in the long run to just use an AI instead of head hunting.

I'm just too much of a science nerd to like this.

@daitengu it doesn't appear to be a cyborg; the brains are discarded. It appears to be a full transcription of a brain, and editing of the information that was previously held in the brain done afterwards.

While the stories and tech are not necessarily interlinked, at least one other story is from the perspective of a brain in a jar, watching her body walk and talk without her in it, before it is disposed of.

That makes even less sense. There's enough demand for people wanting to get around death or their bodies that this hentai scenario just doesn't work. The money is in the maintenance of people who went all digital. The black market slave industry is pittance in comparison and would place a serious stain on the company in question and would in all likeliness be destroyed once found out. On the other hand it's FAR cheaper just to have flesh n blood slaves over robotic copies.

Not to mention that if you can copy a biological brain and translate it to hardware, there's really nothing stopping you from contracting people for personality types to copy and alter to custom specs. You know above board stuff and far cheaper. Easy enough to program in fake black grounds and scenarios at this tech level.

You're making infiltrators who are wholly loyal to you and basically replace the person nearly indistinguishably, meaning you can control whoever you want. It's a bodysnatcher scenario. You could sell it and it gets regulated, but you could also start seeing if you can replace the president and take over entire countries.
