I don't shy away from Patreons, but this is frankly one among of worst implementation of a Patreon.

Patreons for translators are fine with the intention of supporting the translator's time and efforts with perhaps early release as a perk, but when the content is intended to be permanently gated behind a paywall it raises thorny legal questions about profiteer and copyright. Instead of merely covering the cost of the translation, it crosses the line to profiteering from the original content creator without their permission.

As a supporter, I am fine with supporting translation efforts, but absolutely not fine with effectively re-selling the translated work without permission in this manner.
