Yes, if it was real, it would be terrifying. Kurzgesagt is an educational channel that explored some of the effects of stuff like that. How the size of life greatly affects how it functions. Concerns such as air being too thick to even breath in.
Which is why I only find it interesting in fiction. It couldn't happen outside of it.
