I'm guessing the corruption is because of part 2? Also am I the only one to find it odd the librarian apparently know's the book is real but doesn't seem to care about the explosion and clouds of green smoke beyond "Welp guess I'll put this away again I'm sure whatever the kid did isn't going to be a problem."

I always find the "wake up and not notice till you get to the bathroom and seen yourself in a mirror" just bizarre as well.
Slow, gradual changes could be unnoticed. your hair growing over 6month. not really noticed, till it gets caught on something. you gaining 30 lbs over 6month. not really noticed until you bend over, or your pants don't fit.

But immediate? you would notice instantly. Tits crushing your chest? you'd know instantly. long hair? you'd know instantly. in your face, pulling on your scalp as it gets caught rolling around, etc. no morning wood.. the air on your skin, from wearing panties, versus boxers. shaved legs, versus hairy. feels different on the sheets. height changes as well, how far from the ground the mattress is.
