A more direct TL would be something like "that cruelty" or "such savagery", but that's an odd thing to say while being crushed.

1. The pages are in the wrong order.

2. The hero in this story is a bit strange in the head. He calls the Lamia bad because it kills people. This after having mused over how the Lamia was protecting a treasure in a labyrinth and only killed people that tried to steal that treasure. In other words... protecting your house and property from thieves is wrong?
