There's been a *slow* trickle of new monsters over the years but yeah, it's at the rate of maybe one or two new monsters a year. Returning monsters will sometimes have different appearances (regional differences, perhaps) but it pretty much all just boils down to "this is what Kazue Yamamoto wanted to draw this month."
