Men, the Discipline cast hasn't appeared in any of the mobile games? Unless that rumor of Starless being what they wished to do with Discipline was real, i kinda prefer the Morimoto shenanigans to the Mamiya it's just murder lol.

The parent gallery with only the event CG was expunged because they said 'this was a lower quality dupe'. Are people blind and don't check? This gallery are all PNGs which if you zoom and check don't have any compression artifacts which means is the higher quality source, unlike the other gallery that only had JPGs.

I think it's pretty obvious who the blind one is if you can't recognize images denoised via CNN and pointlessly resaved in a larger lossless format. You just need to check the uploader's other galleries to understand his modus operandi.

I played this game while it was in service. The source images lifted directly off the game servers were in .jpg format averaging only ~130kb each.

The sole exception in the original gallery is the single CG of SSR [Christmas Tree] Iriza, which was taken from the CG collection distributed to players who had spent over 300 yen on the game before it shut down. The CG collection did not include variant CGs, only a single base one, thus why only a single image of the scene was included.

This gallery is not even close to being a "higher quality source". In fact, it couldn't be further from that. It's a denoised and upscaled version of the previously uploaded gallery, downsampled to match the original's resolution. If you don't believe me, feel free to ask the uploader why the rest of Christmas Tree Iriza's CG variants were excluded.

If you look at the uploader's past galleries, manually upscaling CG's is something they're known to do. Given that Rbot says the original files in the game were always .jpeg and this guy's track record, it's safe to say that he's essentially creating dupes of every gallery he uploads but with artificial higher res versions that are just smoothened out with filters. What does the uploader say about this? Are these claims wrong?

The CGs are denoised with waifu2x using the Artwork setting with the highest noise reduction level applied.

None of the CGs were up-scaled for this gallery. The only CG that was resized is the Iriza Christmas Tree one, which was downsized to match the other CGs for consistency. Note I did try to upscale the CGs but wasn't satisfied with the results (the source file quality wasn't good enough for an upscale) so I just went with the noise reduction.

I downloaded the game CGs a few years ago and actually searched for them here and couldn't find them so I uploaded them after removing the compression artifacts. If you search for the term "Empress Energy" you will only find this gallery so I don't see another entry for them.

The Art Cards are from the game's unofficial wiki (https://empressenergyx.wiki.fc2.com/) with the same noise removal settings applied.

This should be the best looking version overall for these CGs unless someone knows of a better release. (If there is a better version would appreciate it if someone could share a link to them)

Like many other users, I'm personally against the upload of "touched up" galleries, especially those that aren't clearly labelled as such.

Honestly, I feel we don't really need them. Anyone can save the original gallery and pass it through waifu2x themselves and enjoy it privately if they think the result looks better to them.

A related problem is the presence of know-nothing clowns who will happily jump out of the woodwork to declare the altered galleries to be a "higher quality source", as illustrated in this very thread. It just introduces needless confusion to the discussion when people don't even know what they're looking at.

As for the better version you're looking for, I'd point you to the original gallery you ran through the CNN. The denoiser has visibly blurred and discolored parts of many images. For example, in SSR [Attention N.] Hinata Ai's first CG (image 45 in the gallery), your version introduces a weird aliased band of discoloration on the outer edge of her left (right from the viewer's perspective) breast that isn't present on the original. You'll find many more examples if you just care to look.

EDIT: On second look, that artifact might be introduced by e-hentai's own compression on the web gallery images. Either way, there are still flaws introduced in other scenes like the background in SSR [Accelerate N] Tsubame's scene looking blurrier and out of focus compared to the original. By the way, that wiki is mine and those card images were scraped off the server by me. As such, it contains cards that were never actually included in the game, even though the scraper found an image.

Different people have different preferences and that's cool. I do prefer the cleaned up version which is why I uploaded it and like I said, I don't see the original version on this site so not sure why people said it's already uploaded. If you want to compare images I'd say look at Celicia's face in CG #16 (last variation CG). It's like night and day in terms of clarity. I do think it's a closer representation of what the original source looks since it removes all of the artifacting but you're free to disagree. I did add the Art Cards so at least there is something original in the gallery now for those that already have the CGs.

Go to the parent gallery, click on ">Show Expunge Log". You'll see a field labeled "Conflict Gallery:", click on the gallery it links you to.

EDIT: As far as I know, no videos of the H-scenes have been archived, or at the very least, they were not publicly shared.

Before the game shut down, players were promised a CG gallery (for those who had paid over 200 yen - I said 300 last time, but I double-checked with another source and I had misremembered). I think due to this promise, no one was in a rush to archive anything. Not to mention that the game certainly had fewer than 1000 active players left by then.

After service ended, all paying players were indeed sent a code to claim a free item from DMM, but it disappointingly contained only base CGs without variants. And incidentally, it's not even accessible anymore. The site returns an error saying "this item doesn't exist" when I attempt to re-download it from my purchase history - oh well.
