So many potentially wonderful comic books have been irreparably ruined by the authors choice of using anime to portray the characters, instead of developing a style of their own.

@zdrekov On one hand, I can understand how artists like this one choosing a generic anime style to be limiting and causing their work to get lost in the shuffle of comics that all share the same bland style. But at the same time, I can tell from the style of this comic that the artist is question is young and is still trying to find their style. So getting on their case like that is just plain unnecessary.

@formarotica: The sooner they drop the style, the better and no better time then when young. This shit gets hardwired into your brain and you can't get rid of it. I've seen hundreds of artists who can't shed the anime style, as hard as they try just because they've picked it up when they were young, thinking it's a shortcut to creating. This artist is talented, the comic is interesting... I just can't help but feel sad how cool & unique it would be had they developed their own style for the characters.

What the actual fuck is with the negative comments about the art style? This looks like a totally unique western cartoon style. What part of this art style looks too "anime" for you people?

That all aside, how the boy got hit by a car when he was already dropping off the edge of a bridge over a body of water is still a bit confusing. Did she hit the rail and knock him backwards onto her van or something?

Edit: Oh, got it. Should've been super obvious in retrospect, but my brain sorta auto-corrected the details.

Also, sad to see the artist go like this, but if this is healthiest for their mentality, then go for it. Hope things get better for you, Vee.

Not a lot to go off of, but I do think this had some potential. What a shame. That part in the artist’s statement about the anonymous internet’s collective tendency to not respect or even recognize boundaries really resonated with me; it’s about as scathing and explicit (yet wholly mature) of a wake up call one could write in response to a not-insignificant faction of ‘people’ dwelling on that certain image board, and while I know it sadly won’t change the big picture, maybe some of them—some of us—will change.

Man I was really looking forward to tuning in regularly to see updates. I hope their condition improves first of all and if they feel inclined add some more pages to this. Also shame to all the people who criticized the art style. Like if the artist is not asking for it and the art is competent then maybe dont speak about it? Anyways I wish luck for them and thanks for uploading this op.

To be exact, they have given up on life, spending what's left in peace, without any medical treatment.
Though they might be dead already by this time, it's not smth for us to know, nor should we attempt to look into the matter.
