Patreon/Fanbox/etc-blocked art of anime characters has always been a dubious thing that falls in the same legal void as doujins, as technically you should NOT be able to make a profit off licensed works/characters, but it was still accepted without issues ever since it was popularized for years now...so now that the AI-wave hits, we end up with shit like this, aka some people that legit thinking that just because they can use the AI to make pics of popular characters slightly better (And sometimes not even that) than others, they can paywall it to get money. If anything, the sad thing is that some people actually ARE getting money from it, which makes the actual artists who put time and effort into their work discouraged and may end up killing prospective new artists because of it...
