Greetings, visitors! I, Pazuzo LePaz, will lead you through this mistical tour between time and space. In the year 1636 A.D., in a distant land facing west, there was Old man Borco, a travelling illustrator who found the unexepected inside an ominous building at the edge of a mountain. It was the magical Yōkai Brothel, a place where women from all around the world could give peace, understanding, and much more (under a fee, of course) to the Yōkai of all the lands. So behold the works of this incredibile artist that drew each and every encounter he assisted in the magical brothel where dreams, and fantasies, come true.
Thank you for checking out our content! Me and Borco are extremely grateful. Yokai Brothel is a project born from our common passion for the Japanese folklore, especially for the Yokai.
Kappa, Akaname, Tengu, Nuraihyon, Rokurokubi and many more! Borco loved the idea to create erotic art featuring those creatures. So he thought of a mystical place where all these creatures could get some love: the Yokai Brothel. Me? I just added a little bit of lore. And the prices of the Yokai Girls, of course. Consider becoming a supporter if you appreciate Borco's art and the overall project to create a more complex narrative around it.
Okay, so you moved from the Heian to the Edo period. This is great! Here there is already an established system for prostitution that people are used to. Yuukaku 遊廓 or "Playgrounds" were the only districts that were legal to house brothels. Sadly, this also was a restriction on the workers themselves, so they were not allowed to leave the walls of the districts except to visit dying family members. The Edo era is also the origin of the Oiran, the highest 'rank' of prostitute or courtesan, with even the Jigoku Tayuu, a legendary courtesan with sharp wit, masterful artistry, and the ability to see the world beyond. There are lots of stories about her, sometimes she winds up being discovered by a lecherous monk (of course monks went to brothels, why let a few proscriptions get in the way?) who explains her powers, allowing her to become a religious figure.
I recommend 'Sex Work in the Tokugawa Era' by Elizabeth D. Lublin. It can give you better information on what the average patron expected to see, and what was expected of them.
I will also add the idea that, some yokai inspired terror or other strong emotion with just their appearance. So those special clients have to work with blindfolded girls.
