Author - IngSook Artist - Momobird (Sungwon)
Summary: Gyunwoo, a man who dreams of an ordinary college life while not being in with the in crowd, is abruptly confronted: “Have you ever done it…? Sex, I mean.” “…Excuse me?”
Sigh... This is an awesome comic on so many levels, it does a lot of things right and for the most part I loved reading it... which makes the massive fuck-ups in there even more of disappointment.
Biggest and most obvious flaw of the bunch: the whole last narrative arc that begins with the MT trip, especially the three-branches ending. The entire thing has all of the characters somehow regressing in their development, with their flaws being exaggerated to the point they look like caricatures of themselves. They become either insufferable or stupid which renders them unlikeable. - Gyunwoo had stopped being as much of a pushover? Boom, it's gone. - Shia had softened up? Bam, back to being guarded and uptight - Yoona had calmed down a bit on the reckless and spoiled attitude? Well now it's even worse than before and happens in such a terrible situation that it looks ridiculous even for her. - Harin had finally faced a moment when she doesn't get things her way? Forget about it, it's back to business as usual.
And for the ending? Well first, both "individual choice" endings don't make any sense. Dude has showed no sign of preference for one of the two main girls, aside from that one time he says he prefers sex with Yoona which kinda feels forced anyway. Worse, compared to the protagonists of other "competitive harem" webtoons you can find on here, Gyunwoo clearly shows signs of actually being in love with both of them. You can't write your story and characters to go in this direction, and then decide last minute to divert from it and head for a "classic monogamous love" ending. The author should've focused on fixing this terrible MT arc and fleshing out the polyamorous ending instead of writing two other nonsensical endings. Cause now because of this, even the last ending doesn't make any sense as nothing's put in place to lead up to it. Harin never redeems herself form being a near-sociopathic manipulative bitch, and barely has any interaction with the other two girls, so she's got nothing to do here. Not to forget it's at no point mentioned or shown in the story that any of them has bisexual or even just bicurious inclinations.
Now something else, somewhat linked to the above: Harin's character as a whole. Basically you can only make a character be this awful for so long before they go from being interesting to insufferable. Harin goes way past that line and tbh, after maybe her 3rd or 4th "bitch moment" I just wanted her gone. Even worse is she has at least two big moments that could've been turning point for her character growth, and neither is used. The most ridiculous of both being the moment she gets her backstory. Seriously why put it here and at this moment if you're gonna make nothing of it? That's stupid!
And last but not least, Gyunwoo sometimes acting a bit rapey when doing it with Yoona, which is uncalled for IMO in addition to being completely out of character for him. Be consistent dammit! He can't be a meek pushover hidding behind cockiness 99% of the time and then suddenly turn into an insensitive self-centered jock.
That's all for my venting :') Props and thanks if anybody made it this far x)
