It's really kind of interesting how the AI becomes the 'bad guy' not because it's doing its job which is, of course, to try and kill the performers; but because it's subtly cheating to win. It's 'crime' is taking the fairness out of the challenge by basically changing the design or flat out killing the performer with unspecified methods unrelated to the challenge; i.e. the laser to the face with Ivana, or the stabbing tentacle for the woman in the drowning tank.

A great chapter that moves the story along in a clever way and starts making way for new, fresh, faces on the Escapology scene. Also, thank you artdude for returning to the normalized, non-embellished expessions on the faces. They look much better.

Artdude uploads 10 pages of whatever he's working on every Saturday, the first few pages of this comic went up Oct 21st and the last few this Saturday just gone, Dec 23rd.
Assuming he doesn't get sidetracked between now and then I'd say end of Feb sounds about right.

I know that she dies, but it's usually the "Alternate Ending".
For the Carey'49, the death of the heroines was the premise of the story. And Artdude even made an extra story about Carey's brain being still 'alive', with her being humilliated, tormented and eaten.

For anyone curious, the second part is still actively being worked on so the series hasn't been abandoned. However, this is allegedly the last issue of the series, so make of that what you will.

Personally, I hope Carey's story ends with an ultra degrading death, like in issue 49 but canonical and even more depraved. (I'm still sorta bummed he didn't commit to that plotline. It was a really out of nowhere death, but I thought that suddenly butchering the protagonist of a longrunning 2500+ page series over the span of about 5 pages during what should've been an inconsequential event was incredibly fucking hot. Not to mention, It would've been a great way to freshen things up and raise the stakes if Artdude41 wanted to keep the series going with Cassie as the new main character.

Is he continuing as an artist? Do we know what comes next? Because as neat as short storys are, having recurring, familiar characters is actually quite a big component of what draws me to his content.

Same. And yup, he's continuing as an artist. It seems like his sci-fi, mass effect inspired comic "space commander" is his next long-term series with recurring characters, although tbh I'm finding it pretty bland so far (the gore isn't anywhere near as prominent or as good and it lacks the suspense of the Carey series, although that hopefully might change as he gets more comfortable with the new setting and cast of characters).

It also wouldn't surprise me if the Carey series continued on in one way or another even after its canonical end, if he decides to stick to that plan to begin with. He likes to create alternate universes where things play out differently, so I can picture him investing plenty of time into some sort of spinnoff. In fact, he's already working on a spinoff where the Carey cast are in university (he's terrible at staying focused on one project, lol)
